DISCRETE OPTICAL FILTER RADIOMETER
 Discrete Optical Filter Radiometer
The discrete optical filter radiometer shown in Figure 1, provides a 50 mm. diameter optical aperture and a 2° diameter field of view using a liquid nitrogen dewar containing an Indium antimonide (InSb) cooled IR detector, providing high sensitivity measurements of thermal targets in up to ten wavelength regions.
The instrument can be configured to view "flash" transient events, or an optical chopper can be incorporated for slowly varying radiances. The operation of the radiometer is completely computer controlled, and the output data can be presented in various formats using our proprietary software. The data can be smoothed digitally for selected output time responses to minimize noise, or high frequency responses up to 50 KHz can be recorded and displayed for the "flash" configuration. Optical filters can be inserted under computer control and recording at a rate of less than one second insertion time.
The basic radiometer can be readily converted to operate anywhere in the 0.3 µ m to 14 µ m region with the incorporation of the appropriate IR detector, and/or, optics." At extra cost, a closed cycle Stirling cooler can be incorporated to eliminate the need for liquid nitrogen.
Alternatively, at a lower cost, a pyroelectric detector can be used to cover the entire 0.3 µ m to 14 µ m region.
